FREA

Photography : Oliver Tomlinson

Frea is a must visit when in Berlin. The worlds first plant-based, zero waste restaurant with a simple mission to change the way we eat - they truly embody the 360° mindset. The restaurant uses organic, local and seasonal produce with no waste, from the packaging-free food delivery to the compost machine. All food scraps are put in here and transformed into soil replacement that is given to their farmers.

Everything is made in house and their sourdough bread is so delicious and in demand they are soon opening a bakery across the road.

It's not only the food that considers the 360° perspective. The lamps hanging above the bar are compostable and made from mycelium and some of the art on the walls is the melted down waste from the construction of the restaurant. Open for dinner only so that the chefs can focus on perfecting the food crafted under the watchful eye of the head chef who hails from Silo (the first zero waste restaurant in the UK) so you know you are in good hands!
